That...was a good point. Takano glanced down at the smothered cigarette and think for a minute. Shinigami couldn’t get diseases or any such thing like that. But vision, birth defects, and Cancer were not caused by diseases. At least not most of the time. Genetics and outside issues increased the chances for all of it. Maybe… “Taki…”“Hm. You’ve got a good point with the whole smoking thing. But I’m still a bit hesitant on stopping. What else would I have to annoy Chiyu with?” “You’re a meany…” Chiyu would say, obviously pouting “I’ll have to think about that. In any- Hey, I don’t have bad breath! Lack of charm? Why you…” Takano would grumble as Chiyu softly giggled. “Yeah, well I’ve got enough charm to keep my Zanpakuto from shooting at people with lasers!” “I don’t like hurting people…”“Let’s just drop the subject and go see this damn movie. A killer hedgehog? That’s one of the stupid concepts I’ve ever heard. What’s next, a swarm of tomatoes…” After the movieTakano would walk out of the movie, wide eyed at the monstrosity which he had just watched. It was not the actions which the Hedgehog had performed, or really anything else in the movie. What Takano had feared most was the “Hedgehog” itself. If he could even call it that. The only reason he decided not to leave was to get back at Chiyu for earlier, even with her whining and begging to leave. Takano would hold his head. “Wow...That was…” Takano would remove a cigarette and light it up. Vayle grinned at Takano with his next statement. "I don't know. you seem like you could find another way to annoy a sword. Seems like something up your skillset's alley."
As Takano commented on the whole 'lasers' issue, Vayle just shrugged. "My zanpakuto is beautiful and Pristine when it's shooting people with lasers. Just because you're jealous of the pretty rainbows doesn't mean you take it out on her. And I have what I like to call a 'free-thought' relationship with my zanpakuto. She lets me do my own thing as long as I'm not being too much of an idiot, and I'm free to disagree with her, but I don't stop her from any direct actions either..."
Vayle gave a nervous smile at the last statement. "...Not that I could. She's pretty independent.
"Damn straight!"
---After the movie---
As Takano starts smoking his cigarette, Vayle threw back her head with a boisterous laugh. "Oh my god! Those effects were so silly! That was so fun! And did you hear how ridiculous they made the warped voice for the hedgehog sound?" Vayle would ask, before putting on a serious expression. "You're... too... slow..." She continued with a raw, gruff impersonation of the hedgehog's warped voice, mimicking the scene before he pulled out the female love interest, Maria's, heart, before bursting out in another fit of laughter.
"Alright, looks like i'ts time to head..."
A familiar burst of erratic, negative reishi cut the 20th seat off as she immediately groaned. "...Or work could happen! No! Cool! that's... that's what I wanted."

Takano would grit his teeth slightly as Vayle mimicked that creature. Damn, how could something fake and so stupid disturb him so much? It was shameful! Embarrassing! He wanted to just go get a drink and ignore the whole ordeal, but it seemed fate had other plans. Takano would remove his Konpaku holder as beckoned Vayle to follow him. Quickly, he’d turn into an alleyway and pop one of the Konpaku. “It doesn’t seem too strong from what I can sense, but something is a bit off…” Takano would state as he unsheathed Chiyu. “Well, at least we got a meal and some entertainment before the fight!” There would sadly be no time for observations, this would just be a straight Hollow Hunt. As Takano neared the Hollow, he’d hold Chiyu out to his side. “Cry, Chiyu!” The sword would extend into a halberd as the two finally reached a rooftop overlooking the Hollow. Takano would plant Chiyu firmly on the ground as he got a better look at it. “Huh, it seems a bit spiky...Spiky… It’s got a pretty fast-” Takano would pause. “Damn it” He’d mutter as Chiyu gave a loud “EEP” and returned back to her sword form. Takano would glance down at her and sigh. “Er, Vayle, we got a problem. Chiyu doesn’t want to come out, she’s too scared. This thing wouldn’t be an issue if we both had a Shikai” Takano shrugged and sheathed Chiyu. She wouldn’t serve much use to him in this form. “Guess I’ll just have to focus on using Kido” He’d mutter as he waited for Vayle to take the lead. Vayle Cameo |

Vayle grinned as she held up a hand. "Geez, some connection with your zanpakuto. Alright then, I'll take care of this one for ya then. You just sit tight." Vayle would add with a grin, patting Takano on the head condescendingly.
Pulling out her Kodachi, Vayle grinned as she ran a hand down the blade. "Dazzle, Mahoutsukai!"
"...nah."
"...M... Mahoutsukai?" Vayle would ask, looking at the sword with widened eyes.
"I mean we can just call another shinigami to handle this, really. I don't see the point of us fighting."
"What the hell-are you seriously doing this, right now?"
"What are you complaining about. We should just let the competent shinigami come in and do the work, right? This way, they might even strip you of your seat, bump you down to the lower ranks. That way, you never have to worry about this whole 'promotion' thing."
"What the-You know what, whatever! I don't have time for this conversation!" Vayle snapped, before striding forward.
"you know, if you manage to defeat that hollow without me, they'll just look on you even more favorably."
Vayle glared forward, before zipping ahead with shunpo to deal with the hedgehog. Holding out her Kodachi, the shinigami yelled "Hado eleven! Tsuzuri Raiden!"
An electrical glow arced across her blade as she leaped in with a hard slash, catching the spiked hollow by surprise with a cut to the arm.
Unfortunately, even with the electrical enhancement, it was much too shallow to bother the hollow, and she quickly found herself slammed across the yard and into the side of a nearby building.
"...Mahoutsukai maybe-I-have-time-for-conversation-after-all..."

As soon as Vayle was launched away by a strike from the Hollow, Takano would hop over to her side to make sure she wasn’t injured. After a quick examination of the girl, he’d sigh and give her a pat on the head. “Looks like I’m not the only one who’s got a lack of charm. Real good thing your Zanpakuto stopped you from taking that cigarette” He’d give a grin before turning to look at the Hollow. “Damn. Out of all the hollows we could of fought…” Takano would mutter to himself, glancing around to make sure there were no souls or civilians. The two lacked any Shikai, but they were generally adept at Kido. Maybe he could try pulling off what he did against Tsuyoshi… “Hey, Vayle, I’m going to try doing something. If it doesn’t work I might explode, but chances are that’ll happen if I don’t do it anyways” Takano would hold his hands together and close his eyes. “Disintegrate ye lord o’ Rondanini! Look upon all creation, ye who bears the name of man! Tear your throat out as the Inferno and Pandemonium ends all who live!” Takano would spread his hands apart, summoning a Crimson colored Horin. “Bakudo-40, Shakkahorin!” Takano would whip the crimson rope around a bit to test out it’s stability. Though it flickered a bit, it seemed to be overall stable. “Whew. Always freaks me out to use the Kojutsu Eisho. Feel like I’m going to blow something up…” Takano looked back at Vayle. “Alright, Try to distract him. If this does what I think it does, I’ll try slicing off the Hollow’s arms so it can’t fight back. We can try purifying it after that, sound good?” The crimson horin seemed to sizzle on the ground, causing Takano to whip it upwards and wrap it around his arm. Luckily it couldn’t burn him. Vayle growled in response to the response from Takano. "...Not another word or I'll take that whole pack and flush it down the nearest toilet." Vayle would respond back grumpily, pulling herself out of the rubble with a lot of extra effort. "...What the hell are you doing?"
"Oh, just the same as you, ya know?"" Came Mahoutsukai's glib response.
"I'm just asking for your help beating a single hollow, and..." Vayle trailed off, as she heard Takano inform her of his potential imminent explosion. "...Got it!"
"See, way I look at it." Mahoutsukai continued, heedless of the current plan. "If I just keep showing my full potential, you'll rely on me to do tougher and tougher stuff, and I don't wanna do tough stuff. Then I might feel bad if I mess up, right?"
"That's not what I'm doing at all!" Vayle spat, before planting her feet. "I just want to deal with challenges I'm actually suited for-"
"me too. I don't wanna fight hollows of this caliber. Not when I've got a master committed to being this weak. I can only be as capable as my wielder, right?" Mahoutsukai responded.
"At least I don't let people get hurt when they're right-"
"Do you think every situation you don't see just happens to be resolved, [/i]Vayle?" Mahoutsukai shot back. "Do you think the other people that get killed on a daily basis doing jobs that would be more suited for you were just Unlucky? That the only jobs you don't choose just succeed without you?"
"So I'm just supposed to do things I'm not capable of-"
"You can pretend you're not capable all you want, and - Vayle, let me make this very clear for you, I like you taking easy assignments. I like when I don't have to worry about you! But you want to save people without putting yourself in a position where you can save people! Do you know how stupid that is?"
"If someone competent can do it-"
"but the seireitei isn't brimming with some supergods that'd just accomplish every little thing you fail at." Mahoutsukai snapped back. "grow up. You willmess up, and you will fail to save people. That's what you agreed to when you took the job. But you're just going to beat yourself up the same amount either way, right?"
Vayle grunted in response, leaping in and firing several brimming white bolts of lightning at the hollow - wordless Byakurai that seemed to sting no more than an irritating insect. "So you just want me to accept the fact I might get people killed?"
"Vayle, whether you do something or you do nothing, you might get people hurt. I like the Vayle that tries her best, over this one."
Vayle went silent, dodging the hollow's next few strikes, before retaliating with a sokatsui to the back. The burns and bleeding were clear, but the hollow was quick to follow up with a hard slap that sent her flying into the building.
"when you get like this, you don't even access your full reishi. You give up because maybe if things are this bleak it's just better to pretend you couldn't do anything about it. That if a responsibility is too big it's easier to just not take it."
Vayle pulled herself out of the rubble with a look like she wanted to cry. she tried to open her mouth, but no words could really come out. What was there to say? she was right. She didn't want to be the only one to deal with threats. she wanted to be able to have someone else to fall back on if things got tough, rather than worry about other people getting hurt because she couldn't save them.
But at the same time... if she really wanted to just keep doing that, there was no reason to become a shinigami in the first place, was there?
Vayle slammed a hand against the rubble. Was saving people so scary she was really willing to let them get hurt just because of a little thing like that? Was she so... useless?
"...Fine then." The shinigami finally stated. "I'll do it."
"What will you do?"
"I'll become one of the top shinigami in the world..." Vayle would respond, energy charging from her arms as her full reishi was unleashed.
"I'll become one of the best, I'll save as many people as I can! And... I won't let myself live with regrets... for things I didn't do. people I didn't save..."
""Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens!" Vayle cried, standing next to her weapon. It was a kido higher than she'd ever used... and might take the rest of her energy. but in this case...
In this case she knew she had a partner she couldn't let down. if she could even do some damage with this spell...
"Hado number seventy-three! Soren Sokatsui!"
Blue Flames leaped from Vayle's hands as bright azure energy flashed from her hands. The blasts shot out with intensity, and the flames would burn the hollow on all sides, leaving it stumbling and groaning.
"...There's your opening. You'd better... make good use of it.. Takano." Vayle panted, as her legs started turning to jelly.

Takano would allow the scathing rope to skid along the ground, just looking in bewilderment at Vayle. While launching several powerful Kido attacks, the woman found this to be the best time to argue with her Zanpakuto. She would finish with a declarative statement about how she would be the best Shinigami out there. Was she turning into a Manga protagonist or something? Hopefully she wasn’t starting to lose it, now was not the time for this Anime protagonist crap! Takano would glance down at the rope, whipping it up and wrapping it around his arm again. “Hey, Chiyu?” “Yes…?”“Thanks for not being an asshole” “You’re Welcome…”Takano would launch himself forward as the Hollow stumbled, swinging the rope out and slapping the Hollow square in the mask. He would hop around behind the Hollow and grasp the rope, which was now wrapped around the Hollow’s head. Slowly he would tighten it and slice through the mask, causing it to screech in pain. The spikes on its back were beginning to stab into his rest, burning through his robes and slicing his flesh. It seemed they were acid tipped, just his luck. “Vayle, Konso this freak!” He’d struggle to shout as the Hollow shifted, driving the spikes further into his flesh. Vayle Cameo |

Vayle would hold up a hand and smile, as Takano said that. "Hey, Takano! Do you think that this hollow is... Ya know... Too slow?"
There was probably something to be said about the appropriateness of her comment, given that it was in the middle of a battlefield and she was busy fighting off a giant hollow that was currently hurting her shinigami friend. On the other hand...
When the hell else was she going to make a joke about that movie? One does not simply let a perfect opportunity for wordplay pass by, right?
"That's the girl I wanted to hear." Mahoutsukai responded, before the Kodachi disappeared, and a rainbow-filled reactor whirred to life. Energy collected from the bottom of the reactor, and whirred into a bright rainbow that illuminated the area.
"Sorry about that, dealt with that whole marital dispute thing. We're all good now." Vayle would add, as her reactor roared to life. "Let me go ahead and deal with this little problem, here."
The Miniature reactor burned with bright flames, and Vayle put her other hand on the reactor.
"Magicannon: Final Spark!"
Vayle dodged to the right as she fired, just in time to let off a gigantic burst of rainbow-colored, rune-wrapped wrath.
The hollow screamed once, and then fell, disappating the second after the shot made contact.
"...So, that was fun." Vayle will say. "Would you... wanna see another movie at some point? one with less hollows? I mean hedgehollows? I mean... hedgehogs."

Takano grit his teeth as the slice wounds began to expand and burn from the acid tipped spikes. “Not now!” He’d shout in anger at Vayle, hoping that she would quickly end this fight. Chiyu was trying to her best to stem the wounds from opening any further, but she could only do so much. The wounds couldn’t be healed with just any Kaido, stuff like this required more powerful and skilled healing arts.Takano himself would be able to stop it once he was freed, but it would take a little while… As soon as the Hollow was hit by Vayle’s Magicannon, Takano would launch back, his chest letting out a sickening cutting sound as he fell onto the ground. He would breath heavily as he reached into his pocket and removed some salves, which he would then begin to apply to the wounds. Thankfully Chiyu would manage to cut off most of the pain, allowing for him to focus on probably healing the wounds. He’d take a deep breath as the Hollow finally faded, propping himself up against a wall as the salves began taking effect. Even with the acid being healed however, there’d still be the sickness from the Hollow Reiatsu which the acid acted as a sort of “Trojan Horse” for. It should be fully expelled within the next couple of days but… Damn were those days going to suck. Takano would hold his head as Vayle asked if he wanted to see another movie. “Uh...Sure. Maybe not another horror movie... I don’t feel so goo-” Takano would hold his stomach before doubling over. “Or anything with hedgehogs…” Vayle Cameo |

Vayle took a second to respond, making damn sure the hollow dissolved properly before making any sort of move. as soon as she wasn't sure Hedhehollow wasn't going to pull some surprise garganta, or suddenly reform, or turn into mist like a goddamn vampire - she'd seen one do it before - to regenerate elsewhere, she rushed over to Takano. "Hey, you alright?" Vayle would ask, coming over to check on him. "You look all puncture wounded and stuff... seriously, man, that seems like that was almost worse for you than it was for the hollow. what a risky technique." Vayle would note. "You did look pretty cool out there, though." With a quiet chuckle, the death god turned to Takano with a big grin. "But... I'm glad we made it outta this. It's.." Vayle started to say, before Shrugging. "It's good we got out more or less okay, Zanpakuto issues aside." Vayle would note, before transferring a bit of reishi from herself to Takano while kneeling down as he doubled over. She wasn't sure how much it'd help, but it should give him the energy to keep going - Vayle wasn't undamaged, but compared to Takano she may as well have been. This wasn't anything a shinigami of her caliber's reishi wouldn't let her recover from in a day or two. "ALright, no horror movies. Got it. I did see this cool adventure movie coming out soon! Something about a pair of plumbers finding out the dinosaurs didn't blow up! We could watch that when it comes out! For now, though..." Vayle smiled and offered him a hand up.
