Vayle held her Kodachi with a nervous though, thinking back to the original proposal for this spar. It was a way for Tsuyoshi to see what she was capable of, and for her to evaluate where her own power sat compared to the renegade. She was a little surprised that Tsuyoshi had proposed it in the first place, but...
The shinigami sighed. Maybe he was trusting that, finally, he could have a normal spar. one where no one pushed it to the point of a battle to the death. Or, maybe he was hoping to prove to himself that he could really do a battle where neither side died, and both parties came out the better for it. Whatever his reason, Tsuyoshi had put out the call, and Vayle wasn't going to be hesitant to answer. they'd picked a pretty wild area, with no one around for hours on either side, so it would just be two shinigami and the top of the mountain that they'd chosen.
The shinigami put a hand to her arm, cursing the fact she wasn't smart enough to at least bring a jacket.
"We'll get that captain's jacket to put on soon, Vayle. Don't you worry." Mahoutsukai teased.
"...Tch. I guess I'll just have to wait until Tsuyoshi gets here in the cold. Luckily, I doubt I'll have to worry about cold too much once we start firing off a blast or two, right, Mahoutsukai?"
"I'll make sure my next attacks are set a little warmer than usual, just for you!" The blade responded cheerfully.

''I'm glad you came.'' Tsuyoshi said as he stepped up from behind a rock, shielding himself from the wind partially as Jidai dragged along the ground. ''Been a while since I fought a fair match.. let alone another Shinigami, even if they're of the weak-willed magic variety.'' He said, knowing it could come across as a tease, but in all honesty it wasn't. He had mentioned to Vayle he hated magic, and his thoughts on it were just as he described, even when people he didn't exactly want dead were involved. ''But I guess this is what passes for safety, right?'' He was also aware that that one couldn't possibly be seen as a joke in any form. ''Badmouthing the opponent. I feel like we're bonding.'' Jidai mentioned, blade carving a single line in the ground as it was finally lifted up in the air, pointing at the woman at the opposite end of it. ''Expose, Jidai.'' ''That.. sounds so incredibly abusive. I really wish you'd stop saying that.'' The sword mentioned as six excess pieces of metal were shot off and now hovered next to Tsuyoshi, forming a small shield around him. ''The first move is yours.'' Tsuyoshi smiled as he then lowered Jidai to the ground. ''Show me your magic.'' Defensive Phase

"Well, glad to be here." Vayle would say with a smile, ignoring Tsuyoshi's second comment. She'd heard the magic discrimination from every member of the eleventh division she'd ever faced. Listening to it from Tsuyoshi did not make her feel worse in the slightest. She'd picked kido as a specialty specifically because it was the hardest one, as a way of proving her dedication to the job, so the sword-swinging specialists had always been on her case about the "weakness" of using magic. Like it was all that amazing to pump iron once in a while and figure out the in and out's of swinging a glorified metal stick! Okay, maybe it bothered her just a little bit. Vayle sighed and grinned, as she let her senses drift outwards. " Mahoutsukai, Analyze!" She thought to the sword. " Got'cha, Vayle!" "This'd be the first time I face a Zanpakuto of this type. I wasn't expecting it to be this defensively focused. or this elegant." Vayle would admit. "all the same... Dazzle, Mahoutsukai!" Her own blade was wreathed in rainbow energy, before morphing, shifting into it's familiar broom-and-reactor combo, and Vayle grinned as she felt her partner come into full view beside her. She always appreciated the rush of reiatsu and the feel of connectedness with her partner, especially when it could be kept inside a friendly spar. "Magic sign: Milky way!" Seeing Vayle release her sword somehow brought a smile on his face, almost as if he knew she was going to give him a fight worthy enough for him at that point. Tsuyoshi was, either way, sure she wasn't holding back, both had released swords and at the end of the day it didn't matter that the other one was magic-based. What did matter however, was that the first attack made at him, which he allowed, was a hail of magic and not a single strike. It was impossible to dodge this. Though there was a significant lack of trying there. It hit Tsuyoshi, and while on a defensive aspect Jidai took care of some of it, it still hit hard. Hard enough to have him dig his feet into the dirt and use the edge of his sword to keep him standing. Still his views on using magic remained the same. ''My turn?'' ''Our turn?'' Jidai corrected as Tsuyoshi gave Vayle a cheeky smile, rushing in right then and swinging wildly to hopefully get a hit or two in. And if not, it served as a good way of figuring out exactly what she could do. Defensive Phase

Vayle chuckled as she saw Tsuyoshi manage to keep standing. "You've got a pretty damn sturdy defence." The 20th seat of division seven smiled as she saw the familiar figure of Tsuyoshi hidou cut through the avalanche of stars, blade in tow. She hadn't really expected to get that good of a hit on Tsuyoshi in the first place, but he was already making it pretty clear that he was a cut above an average rank-and-file shinigami. Vayle dodged his first strike with the use of shunpo, and let her broom drag her out of the way of the next attack. "Hey, not bad!" Vayle stated with a grin, as Tsuyoshi's strikes went through. "I can tell you aren't a slouch in Zanjutsu... and your strikes have a hell of a lot of power hiding behind 'em!" The Shinigami grinned, as glyphs opened up in the floor around her. "I'd be in trouble if I hadn't spent as much time perfecting flash steps as I have." Vayle would say with a smile. "Now then: My turn again!" The area emitted a blue glow as the reishi poured into the land and condensed. Vayle grinned. thanks to her recent training with Mahoutsukai, her heart was in balance, even after her fight with Revenant. It felt... right. "Love sign! Non-directional laser!" A series of blue lasers blasted from the ground beneath them, threatening to catch Tsuyoshi in their embrace. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

''Yeah, sturdy defense.'' Jidai repeated after Vayle, but didn't stop there. ''Sadly defense is useless if you can't hit for shit! Get your act together!'' It scolded Tsuyoshi as his two strikes had missed entirely, not even seeming to take that much out of his opponent in any form. And to pile things on, she was able to let out another attack that very nearly caught him by surprise. But luckily, when it did come close it was more.. solid than anything else it seemed as his instinct was to cut through it, and by doing so he negated the attack entirely. A smile came upon his face then as he moved his sword back and forth a bit. ''Power means nothing if it doesn't hit.'' He said as both a tease at her as well as it being a reply to what she had told him; that he had power behind his strikes. ''I might be strong.'' Tsuyoshi said as he slowly began walking in the direction of Vayle, vanishing suddenly and appearing before her. ''But that doesn't help if you keep dodging.'' With a fast thrust forward he hoped to hit, only to then turn the blade diagonally upwards and slahsh towards the sky. ''It simply. Isn't. Enough!'' Defensive Phase

Power means nothing if it-Sic 'em, Vayle!" Mahoutsukai shouted in offense as Tsuyoshi cut through her blast without much issue. He did seem to think through his attacks, after all. Tsuyoshi Hidou might have fulfilled the "muscle" sense of his form, but it appeared "Dumb" wasn't attached to it. The next attack Tsuyoshi struck came in with an eerie sense of power, with his every movement leaving her on edge for what came next. The next slash he truck hit right on task, and Vayle stumbled backwards as the strike hit home. With the thrust smacking her straight in the ribs, the next hit was an easily struck slash to the chin. Vayle looked up with a grin after the last one struck. She really shouldn't have been enjoying this as much, given that she was busy getting kicked around. She couldn't help it, though... This was getting fun. "Seems like you're pretty quick to catch onto my movements." Vayle would say, leaping back with a smile. Her broomstick would be thrown up in the air as she reached the edge of the mountain. "And it looks like we're going to be fighting while walking on the air at this rate." Vayle leaped to the canyon below in one swift, sudden motion, as the broom fell behind her, before rocketing back at Tsuyoshi with a grin. "Well, then again, air or not, I ain't a fan of walking! Love sign: Master spark!" The beam would rip a trail through the forest as Vayle passed Tsuyoshi, doing the best magical approximation of a drive-by shooting. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY

Vayle mentioned her movements and how Tsuyoshi had caught on. Except he didn't, she might have thought so but the rogue himself did anything but that. He did, however, as his sword connected, notice the smile on Vayle, telling him she was having fun with this and actually mirrorring his own thoughts. He had this feeling once before, but he lost that fight in the end. Winning or lose either was was of no consequence, if there was fun to be had in a fight it was almost always one where you either stomped the opponent into the ground, or one where you had to actually improve on the fly to keep it at least equal. And this one was forcing him to improve. A constant smile was etched on Tsuyoshi even as Vayle dropped out of sight. Certain of the fact she was only doing so to hopefully confuse him, the rogue went on to just fortify himself and get ready for a strike from her, which soon came in the form of Vayle riding her sword while blasting him in the face. The hit was hard, but not something he couldn't handle as he looked behind him to say a trail of destruction behind him. He got up from his knees then, turned around and chuckled. ''I'm not a fan of magic; and yet we both do it!'' Charging forward he would again erratically slice at the Shinigami on the broom. Defensive Phase

Vayle grinned as Tsuyoshi went for his next attack, the first hit actually managed to graze her. That definitely confirmed her suspicions: Tsuyoshi had gotten stronger through the course of this fight. The second strike was just a little extra message to remind her, as the strike hit home. "You don't even have a problem keeping up at this speed!" Vayle would say with a pleased tone filling her words. She had to admit she'd been growing throughout this fight too. Tsuyoshi had been pressing every opening he could take, and she knew she'd have to stay on guard here. Her usual cockiness would just be a great way to say goodbye to a potential win. Vayle focused hard, as she'd been shown by Mahoutsukai earlier, and an odd purple aura would appear around her, delving into the sparring injuries and soothing them, as her reishi spiked. She'd have to use every bit of power at her disposal if she wanted to end this spar with victory - And Tsuyoshi would not be happy with her if she didn't put in the effort, she knew. "Alrighty then! Star sign..." Vayle called, Driving by again with a deluge of stars behind her. "Stardust descent!" Directly behind her, a bunch of small stars flew in her wake, the multi-coloured deluge falling behind her like the payload of a bomber jet - and exploding in the same fashion. BATTLE TRACKERSUMMARY
