MOTIVATIONS:
Having grown in the heart of the city, Jeremy was part of a vibrant community and had friends who looked up to his bravery and quick thinking. He grew to love teaching those younger than him and getting people to work together. When he was older, he felt a duty to protect the home he loved and wished to make others proud.
After the attack, he wishes to protect others others from suffering from hollow attacks like he had. He is driven to kill the hollow that killed his squad mates and wounded him, and seeks to redeem the name of those men and woman through any means possible.
QUIRKS:
Jeremy is a foody, taking time to try delicious meals when he cans. He believed in the supernatural even before his run-in with the hollow, and is rather disappointed that spirits are as far as it goes. He enjoys using heavy firepower. He also likes outwitting others, even his own allies. Likes to point out details on things, usually to show his smarts or to help (even when not asked for) others.
BONDS:
His family. They instilled many of the virtues he holds dear, and gave him many fond memories.
The street home he grew up on. He had many friends back in the day, and although he’s since drifted from them he knows they would happily have his back.
The Flying Serpents, the squad he trained with who many were childhood friends. Made boot camp bearable, and saved his life many times and vice versa. Seeks to avenge them
Beetle Hollow. The hollow that killed his squad mates. Wants to send it to Hell.
The Order of the Silver Sword. After the attack and Jeremy’s subsequent discharge from the army, the Order approached him and filled him in on the truth nature of the hollow, spirits, the Soul Society, and their complicated history. When no one else was willing to give him answers, they gave him the truth. When he wanted to fight the hollow, they gave him training and his armor. When he was alone and without direction, they gave him companionship and a purpose.
BACKSTORY:
Raised in a Louisiana port town, Jeremy was an active child who had a small following after he rescued a baseball from a particularly nasty misanthrope’s backyard and his dog. From then on his childhood feats continued, creating a close knit group of friends who enjoyed “adventuring” as a child did. Once he got older, his bravery and desire to do more lead him to the military, many of his friends joining him as he went. While Jeremy was not leadership material, he proved himself a valuable soldier. Although approached by many for special service, he would not go anywhere without his buddies, and for that he was left with the ground-pounders.
One night the Flying Serpents were sent in to a outlining base giving out a distress signal. When they arrived, the lights were dead and and dead air coming through the comms. When they moved inside, they found a gruesome scene: The buildings were ruined, soldiers massacred. Scythed in pieces, partly melted and half eaten. The searched for survivors, hoping to find answers.
But the beast found them first.
Jeremy saw his friends and comrades killed as if by some invisible forge, sliced in half or crushed. Bullets fired in panic, walls riddled with lead, but still it slaughtered them without resistance. They attempted to retreat, but their vehicles were now slag in a puddle of acid (along with their drivers). He watched as someone near him was enveloped in green sludge and screamed as they dissolved, the splash catching Jeremy as well. The pain was excruciating, forcing him on hands and knees as he crawled away. It was only the monster’s sadism that let him live, wanting him to suffer slowly.
But the soldier would not die quietly. He crawled his way to the base’s fuel reserves, wedging a grenade into its supports, and he moved into the wreckage of a jeep nearby. When the monster finally came after him, after he heard the deaths of everyone else, he let it in close and with a rip of a cord connected to the pin, the reserves blew and the beast was lit alight.
He never forgot it’s terrible visage: a insectoid beast that stood on two legs, a shell like a beetle over it’s back and scything talons. But what stood the most out was the hole in its chest.
It fled the fire, and Jeremy passed out.
When he turned to, the army had questions and he had none. When he told them what he saw, they thought that he had gone mad. They discharged him. Told him to go home and get help. But he couldn’t. How could he answer to the families of his friends, what was it that killed them?
A young man approached him one night before he would finally return. He said he was part of a organisation who could help him. When he asked, they told him everything. Hollows. That was what killed his friends. They believed his story, and they wanted him to hunt them down. The Order of the Silver Sword wanted to give him a chance to protect others from the same threat.
With no other choice in his mind, he agreed.
They training him brutally, taught him to use the power that resided in his soul. They taught him to fight with every weapon known to man. And they gifted with the Eversor armor, so that he may be an instrument of destruction.
