The way to acquire an artifact is to spend 25,000 kan to start an artifact hunt. An artifact hunt lasts one week. You may not battle or spar during that time. After the week is up you will have discovered the location of the artifact you seek. Artifacts cannot be sold and you may hold a single artifact. If the artifact goes into your Outfit or Accessory slot, you can remove it outside of battle and keep it in your inventory. If you remove a Gear slot artifact from its slot outside of battle, you will lose the item--but are allowed to swap it out inside of battle. You can only trade an artifact for another artifact.
CHALLENGE BATTLES
While you hold an artifact you can be challenged for it any time by another person. They can spend 30,000 Kan to do an artifact hunt to find you. Once you're found, you have two options--battle for the item or hand it over to them. If you hand it over, there is no battle. If not all they need to do is defeat you to take the artifact from you. Your opponent is able to bring up to two allies into the battle to help, and if they do so you're allowed to bring up to two allies with you as well. This all must happen within the confines of normal battle invasion rules.
You can give your artifact to an alternate character you control, but they have to do an artifact hunt for it (pay Kan, wait one week.) Since you can't challenge battle your alt, they receive it automatically.
DEATH
If you die during a normal battle or deadly event, you lose your artifact and it goes back into the pool.

It negates 3 damage taken from all Super Attacks and 1 dmg from Basic Attacks for the duration. Also, when you use the technique Heal, as an at-will action you can upgrade it to a Soten Kisshun. Soten Kisshun heals both yourself and all allies at once. It counts as a use of Heal on every one it affects.
Duration. 2 turns
Uses. One Saten Kesshun per target at a time. One Soten Kisshun per battle.

Upon binding, the Hogyoku grants you Edge 3 against a foe, grants you the use of the trait Spiritual Pressure, and regenerate 2 HP every turn.
Uses. Upon being used once, the item is returned back to the Artifact pool.
