Revenant stood on a tropical island's cliff face, the island appeared quiet, and undisturbed by the forces of the afterlife. Under the shadow of night however this was a much different story, this island he was on was said to be teeming with hollows of all shapes and sizes. This place would soon draw the attention of the soul society, so the Revenant would have to act first if he wanted to banish their souls for eternity. The man would be seen in his usual armor, loading an enhanced shotgun given to him by a close friend. He would need much more ammunition than the meager amount he brought to defeat the hordes of vicious beasts. This is where his blade, "Cide" would come in handy. Hollow's would stand no chance against him in a one on one confrontation, but in numbers him may find trouble. Zena would warn him of this time and time again as he wandered from place to place in the world of the living. The mirror necklace around his neck would speak to him "The hollows will rise in approximately ten minutes, by my guess there will be around fifty to seventy. Get ready..." As Revenant finished loading his shotgun, the moon would begin to rise higher in the sky. The moment was at hand, and a massive field of hollows would appear before him. This was what he lived for, this was what he fought against. As the first creature rose from the ground, Revenant would begin running.
Unsheathing his blade, the world around him would begin to slow down. Before the first of the hollows could even make a move, Revenant had already made his way there. He would plunge the vicious weapon into the creature's skull, and it would die, soul and all. This was only the beginning, as several human-like hollows would begin slowly walking towards him like zombies, in some ways they were zombies. The relentless plus would finally have a decent chance to test out that new shot gun of his. He only hoped it was as brutal as it was effective. Firing off several shells, shrapnel flew in all directions tearing through the slow moving creatures. If things continued like this for much longer, clearing the island would become an easy task. Nothing could be that simple however. It just didn't make sense. Every time he killed one of the creatures more would come, many more than fifty at this point. Eventually, Revenant had run out of shells, and the hollows were upon him. The man would have no other choice than his rocket launcher, a classic RPG that was slung over his back. Swinging it around, he would quickly fire the grenade into a horde, it killed many, but the army of dead persisted.
The avenger would speak, as his rage and enemy-base both grew "Zena, what's going on here? How do I end them!?" the woman would think, but recognize the technique, These were not individual hollows, but the minions of a much greater foe. She would communicate back as many details as she could, "I think I know what this is, none of these creatures are the hollow we're looking for. They're all puppets created by a single being to take this place over, perhaps a hollow..." That explanation seemed to make sense, but that meant his foe was much stronger than he led on. He would need time to focus and discern where this greater hollow was... He would inhale, close his eyes as the horde approached, but after a few moments he would feel it. This was the vial power which made these creatures.
"I've found it..." Would be the only remark he made as he began to cleave through the horde. Hollow by hollow they would all fall as he marched to the source of this chaos. In the dense jungle of the island would be a centaur-like hollow raising it's hands to the air. It would release a maniacal chuckle speaking with a booming voice that would reach across the entire landmass, "Ah, the revenant has come for my soul? Rumors of you have been whispered among our kind, your different from the Shinigami and quincys. You fight not out of justice or practicality, but hate and vengeance. You slay us will brutal force, unyielding. "Tonight, you will fall to me..." The rage began to bubble up, and the plus was ready. He could not allow himself to lose this day, and hate did indeed drive him... "Speak while you can hollow, you'll fall just like your minions..."
The night would grew darker on the island, and the horde of the dead began to slow down, he had finally slayed the majority of their forces. The relentless terror of a spirit had almost reached the ring leader of the entire island. Before him stood the hollow... "So you've finally made it? I suppose I shouldn't have expected less from a man with your reputation.... Go on then, lets see what you can do." Revenant would nod at the creatures request, first drawing his blade and then rushing directly at his four legged foe. Several shining slashes would be seen, and each would be blocked by a short blade the creature held. It appeared to have a zanpakuto of it's own. "Heh heh heh, you'll have to do better than that Revenant. If you take too long more of my minions will catch up with the two of us..."
Things were starting to heat up even more so than before. The stakes had been raised due the horde of minions that was slowly closing in on them both. Time management would be key in defeating these creatures, and their leader. The blood thirsty marauder would have to strike at just the right moment to get the upper hand. The centaur hollow would summon a cycle blade in it's right hand, and a black aura would surround the weapon. In opposition, Revenant would do something similar, drawing his blade as a crimson red aura surrounded him. The two would charge at one another, for a moment there was silence, but the victor would be determined soon. Behind the plus, the centaur would fall to the ground, as all it's horse-like legs would be severed by the slashes of the avenger's blade... Revenant would sheath his blade as the hollow and is army of the dead would slowly dissolve into particles of light. Once the army was gone, he would simply speak into his communication necklace. "Job's done, the hollow and his army are gone for good... I'll be heading back to the soul society for rearmament..." The grim man would begin walking off into the distance as he would suddenly teleport and find himself in the basement of Zena's home.
In front of him was a table that Zena was sitting at sipping a cup of tea. She would smile lightly as he came back, holding the mask of the centaur hollow. She would eye the foreign device up and down before slightly nodding, "Yes this one will do quite well. Consider your debt paid off for now... In the mean time, I noticed you armor hasn't been looking so hot since that fight you had with Vayle... She is a though one, one of the best. Your going to need better tech and training if your going to beat her, lucky for you that's my specialty." The plus would take a seat across the table from her, and start sipping on a cup of tea himself. "Alright, I'm interested. Armor, and training could help a lot. Specifically training, as I was never formally trained in swordsmanship..." The woman would take a moment to think, finding a mentor on the back market was next to unheard of, but she decided he should learn from the best. "You need someone to teach you how to use that thing huh? Well, I am a Shinigami. I could teach you so long as you promise not to loose to that woman again. After all that would damage my reputation as a teacher!" She would giggle lightly before patiently awaiting his answer...
Usually, Revenant would have turned down an offer such as this, but he was unskilled and desperate. He couldn't keep fighting off the soul reapers with brute force alone. Besides what could a little training hurt? Revenant would bow slightly, "If you would be willing to teach me, then I would be willing to learn..." the woman would respond, "Splendid then, from today forth you will meet me at this home at 8 AM every single day. Here you will learn the magic of soul rapers and how to fight like one. Once you've gained full mastery of a fighting style, you'll be next to unstoppable. No hollows or soul reapers will be able to stand against you..." Revenant was happy, this was some of the first good news he had ever received. The training would be hard sure, but if he could put the Shinigami in their place it would be all worth it...
